Why did we choose the picture of the Mandarinfish to represent Premarital couples?
The story is so romantic… Each night, as the sun sets, mandarin fish rise out of their protected environment to mate. During the day, these exotic fish live within the finger corals or rock ledges unseen by man. It is not until the sun wanes over the horizon that the courting begins. You can see the female dance before the male, taunting him, beckoning him to her. Captivated by her charm he pursues as she coyly darts away. The chase continues. The ritual culminates in an intimate, reproductive experience as they rise into open water joined together. At this point they are exposed and vulnerable, risking everything to be together.
